As the month of December begins to unfold, it's important to remember that there is no better way to give thanks than to give back! From small acts of kindness to larger-scale benevolence, here are several ways that you can give back throughout the entire holiday season!

  • Support Meals on Wheels Association of America, an organization that provides home-delivered meals to people in need. Volunteer to make and deliver hot meals to the needy by contacting a Meals on Wheels program near you or make a donation to support their work.
  • Invite a neighbor or friend to join in your holiday meal if they don't already have plans. Know someone who is sick and might not be able to get out of the house? Bring a home-cooked meal to them.
  • More than 50 million Americans are struggling to feed their families this year. Help these families out by donating canned goods to a local food bank, your grocery store or plan to help make and serve a meal at a soup kitchen near you. You can find opportunities near you through Feeding America.
While promises of fabulous feasts, good company, and long-awaited presents will undoubtedly take over for much of the holiday season, always remember the ideals that this time of year truly represents. Happy holidays!
