Last night, Oprah gave her testimony on dealing with ego. She stated that "you can’t begin to love yourself unless you know who you are separate from your ego.” Watch Oprah explain how spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle helped change the way she saw herself.

This teaching fell in line with a lesson I learned from my 8 year old daughter, of all people--I think this because she has been brought up with the knowledge and education of what I teach and live by from my life coaching.
One big piece of this education is about knowing what our ego is. She has been very informed about ego and just how much of it is a part of our everyday life. For those of you who are just starting to join us on this blog or are new to life coaching allow me to explain simply:
There is a voice inside of each of us that continually is speaking to us. It thinks, processes, and internalizes all that is happening. If you are thinking in your head right now "what voice in my head, I don't talk to myself"...that is exactly the voice I am speaking about. This voice is your ego speaking to you telling you what, how and why you think the way you do.
My daughter had a tough day yesterday as she was sharing some of the negative thoughts that her "ego" was saying to her. She was really upset because she couldn’t let go of the fact that I was picked as a volunteer of the audience for a magic show we saw at a local tourist spot.
I could tell she was upset and just was totally in her head trying to let it go. Things that perhaps we have all heard ourselves say, "you aren't good enough", "you cant do that", " you stupid", etc. . I knew there was something wrong as she was so quite all day and finally she said something so profound that I wanted to share. She said..."I am allergic to my ego"!
This may make you laugh however how many of us feel like this and never say it. She had the courage to say it and just though saying it she was able to finally move on and just LET IT GO!
Think of all the times in our lives we do the exact same thing, based on our assumptions of what words or actions of others have on us intended or unintended. That ego rears it’s ugly head robbing us of joyful moments.
